I was very happy to install my new amp on my (very old) 89 camry. I checked and re-checked all the connections on the amp: (2 channel 150wx1 peak @1800w, with two 12" 300 rms 1200w peak) 1) Positive battery (with fuse box for 60 amps on a 8AWG) to 12v input on amp and remote wire to its respective lead on the amp. 2)Ground wire was bolted on sand papared chassis part also 8AWG. 3)Power and remote wire run on the right side of the car and RCA cables from head unit to amp run on the left side. Issue: amp shuts off after at least 20 mins use and car does not turn on most of the time (easy to jump start since it's manual). I do notice that I have dimming lights at night. Would the big 3 help with that? like running 4awg wire to do it this. Please remember that it's a very old car and has a very tampered electrical system. Jeep . How to Check RV Trailer BrakesTrailer brakes are necessary when the weight of a recreational vehicle exceeds the weight that a tow vehicle can pull. Trailer brakes are either surge brakes or electric breaks. Electric tow breaks are activated when the pedal on the tow vehicle is engaged. Surge brakes, meanwhile, are activated when a sensor on the trailer feels the RV slowing. Either of these brake systems can use drum brakes or disc brakes and both systems need a regular safety check. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Flathead screwdriver Flashlight Socket set Jack Wheel chocks Gloves Eye protection Assistant Step by Step : 1 Chock the wheels on the tow vehicle. Use a screwdriver to remove the hubcaps on each wheel. Loosen the nuts on each wheel with a socket wrench. Jack up each wheel and use the socket wrench to remove the loosened nuts holding the tire. Remove the tires. 2 Check the mechanical condition of the drums, shoes and springs if the RV is equipped with drum brakes. Replace anything badly worn or corroded. 3 Check the mechanical condition of the rotors and pads on disc brakes. If the rotors are warped, have them turned at an auto supply shop. Replace the rotors if they are too badly damaged to turn. Replace the pads if they are too thin or loose. Mount the tires after either the disk or drum brakes are checked and necessary repairs are made. 4 Check the operation of electric brakes by first checking the condition of the wiring and the connections. Replace anything that is worn or frayed. Spin the wheels by hand to check that the wheel turns freely. Have someone else press the brake pedal and make sure the brakes evenly engage by turning the wheel and checking it does not move. 5 Check the surge brakes by first checking the sensor in the coupler to make sure it is not corroded or rusting. Spin the wheels by hand to check that the wheel turns freely. Ask the other person to press on the sensor in the trailer coupler to engage the brakes. Make sure both operate evenly by spinning each wheel by hand. 6 Replace any worn or broken parts found after checking either the surge or electric brakes. Recheck the brakes after replacing parts to make sure of proper operation. Tips & Warnings Always wear gloves and eye protection when working on equipment.
Jeep . How to Troubleshoot Trailer BrakesTrailer brakes need to be checked every six months if you do a lot of towing or hauling. If you suspect that the trailer brakes are not working properly, then you'll need to troubleshoot them. Makes sure you troubleshoot the brakes before buying new ones as, depending on the trailer, they can be expensive to replace. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Step by Step : 1 Check for excessive scoring on the rotor surface of the trailer wheels. If the rotor has excessive scoring, then the brakes will need to be changed. The rotor should be pretty smooth to the touch. 2 Check for thin pad material. The pad material on the brake lining should be 1/8-inch thick. If it is less than this, then the pads need to be replaced. 3 Check the brake hose for any deterioration, including cracks or leaks. Brake hoses supply the brake assembly with necessary hydraulic fluid. If the hoses are damaged, then the brakes won't work. The hoses need to be replaced if there is any sign of damage to the brake hose. Tips & Warnings For specific information about your trailer, consult the particular trailer manual or your vehicle's service manual with trailer options (see Resources). *.Chapter 23: Keeping Your Car Clean and Beautiful f»71 If you've never washed the vehicle with a hose before, spray lightly around the edges of the windows and the rear deck lid for a short time and then check to see if the weather-stripping leaks. If it does, consult the instructions in Chapter 24 for patching or replacing weather-stripping, and try to avoid spraying these areas until you remedy the problem. Conserve water. Don't let the hose run while you work. Use it only to wet and rinse the car, and shut it off when you don't need it. Car Wash Association studies have found that people often use as much as 140 gallons for a single car wash, which isn't surprising when you consider that a &inch hose can deliver 14 gallons of water per minute. Use just enough water pressure to wet the exterior efficiently. Blasts at extremely high pressure may loosen and chip paint and parts. Use a sponge, soft rag (old terrycloth towels or T-shirts are wonderful), or cotton wash mitt. To avoid cobwebby scratches, follow the contours of the surface rather than going in circles. Rinse the rag often to get rid of grease and dust particles. Be thorough but gentle. Vigorous scrubbing can scratch and remove the paint. Before you wash the car body, hose it down to get rid of the surface dust, and then clean and polish such exterior surfaces as vinyl hardtops, convertible tops, glass windows and sunroofs, chrome bumpers and trim, side mirrors, wheel covers, whitewalls, and tires. Then, when you wash and rinse the car itself, you'll be sure to get off the last residue of all the substances you used for those jobs. Later sections of this chapter explain how to clean and restore some of those special surfaces. Use gentle cleansers unless you intend to rewax your car. Your car's sensitive skin requires gentle cleansers just as your own body does. Don't use laundry or dish soap or detergent; use a commercial car-washing product instead. Soap and detergent remove the wax and other protective finishes from the surface. Use biodegradable washing and cleaning products to minimize environmental pollution. Unlike the wastewater that is decontaminated and/or recycled by commercial car washes, the dirty, soapy water that you use travels down the sewers and into the waterways and oceans. If your car is really filthy and oily, it may be better to take it to a car wash. Always wash a car body from the top down so that soap scum and sludge don't muck up freshly washed areas. Remember to get to all the corners where dirt can collect and rust can form: behind the wheels, inside the fenders, and behind the bumpers. 1028

Lincoln MKT. * i> Always read and follow the directions on the package. Some products can damage your skin or your cars surface if left on too long or if applied and removed improperly. Wash one section of the car at a time: Hose it down, soap it up, and rinse it off. When you've finished the entire vehicle, hose it all down again to get off every last bit of soap. Use a medium stream of water that flows off in sheets and makes drying the car easier. Make sure that no water collects in the tiny rust-prone spaces around the trim and behind the bumpers. Don't scratch at hard-to-remove dirt. Soak it loose by placing a wet rag on it. If your vehicle is befouled with tar or dead bugs, commercial solvents can get rid of them safely. Be sure to remove these intense cleansers thoroughly and wash the surface with soap and water immediately afterward. Towel-dry the car immediately with terry towels, diapers, or a synthetic chamois to get rid of water spotting that can mar the car's surface. Chamois are good for this purpose and can be washed, rinsed, and used for years. But they're more expensive, and I find that old, dry terry towels work pretty well, too. Besides, what else can you do with towels that have not only become too faded for the bathroom but are too torn even for the beach?
